Highlights of Rajasthan

My husband and I have been together from our college days. We had studied Indian history as one of our subjects and from then, it was our dream to visit India. We reached Delhi in the pleasant month of February. We stayed at Ashthan Sarovar and the services of this hotel left no stone unturned to impress us with their warm hospitality. The hotel also provided us with a driver called Hari Bhagwan. This experienced man helped us to visit many places in our trip. Next day we went to the place dedicated to our favourite man MK Gandhi- Gandhi Smriti. All the memories of our graduation were rejuvenated after learning about him. We also went to the Air Force Museum and Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial. After this, Hari took us to Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Qutub Minar. We went to India Gate in the night that same day!

After this we had planned to visit Rajasthan. Udaipur was our first spot there and we stayed at Udai Kothi. Nothing could be as magnificent and royal as that place. We reached Udaipur in six hours ande went to Chhitorgarh Fort and Maharani Padmini Palace. We gained so much information related to the lifestyle of Rajputs! Beside this, we went to many more places in our two day trip. We also enjoyed the boat ride and ate some Rajasthani snacks.

Next spot was Jodhpur. We had planned our stay at Ratan Vilas. The services of this hotel were as good as the previous ones. We went to Khejarla fort and Sheesh Mahal. The architecture was just so beautiful and captivating that we used to spend so much of our time at one particular spot and used to read books there in the evenings. We had a great experience at Bishnoi Village Safari. My husband enjoyed the pottery session and now thinks we need to get a potter’s wheel at home! We found that this religious community is very close and caring towards nature. Also, wee didn’t miss the adventurous flying fox at Mehrangarh Fort.

After Jodhpur we came to Jaisalmer and booked Rang Mahal to experience a royal stay in the house of Rajputs. Hari helped us be a part of the City Tour of Jaisalmer city. We went to many forts and havelis. We enjoyed boating at Gadisar Lake and it was a great, tranquil experience. We came across an interesting fact that this lake was a man-made reservoir and was made in thirteenth century. We both enjoyed the most daring thing we’ve ever done, and that’s paramotoring, and clicked many photos when we were flying high in the sky. We created many memories at Jaisalmer. After this we left for Bikaner.

The sights we were seeing while travelling was very beautiful and engaging, and we just could not keep our eyes off the road! We stayed at another royal Lallgarh Palace in Bikaner. Next day we visited the majestic Junagarh Fort. We loved the elephant ride over there! There was not a single handicraft which we didn’t pick from the market. We were just amazed while seeing those wonderful creations.

Finally we headed to Jaipur. We stayed at the Golden Tulip hotel. We went to see the marvelous Jal Mahal situated on the Mansagar Lake. We were wondering about the creativity of the earlier architects and it led to a great discussion. We also visited the Ranthambore National park and watched tigers bound about. The admiration towards nature was making us love that place even more!

After this we arrived to Crystal Sarovar Hotel in Agra. The great Taj Mahal was just twelve to fifteen minutes’ drive away. Hari dropped us there and we started analyzing the Mughal architecture. Every single detail on the walls of Taj Mahal was a commendable piece of artwork. We clicked many photographs for our memories. We are thankful to all the guides who helped us at different places and provided us with immense information. Thanks to Hari Bhagwan who made our tour memorable. Our mission to visit India was completed and we wish to visit it again next year. Till then we will live with the most beautiful memories which we created at India.
