Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer is often known as the Golden City of Rajasthan due to its Golden coloured Fort, Jaisalmer Fort. The Fort is the one of the very few fort cities in the world that still exist with people living in it. Gadisar Lake, Patwon ki Haveli and Jain Temples are the various place you can visit. Apart from that, one of the best experiences you can get here is that of the amazing time you can spend in the desert, doing various activities among the sand dunes.

Best time to Visit: November to March. Since the city is so close to the Thar Desert, the city is too hot to enjoy the visit in summer months.

Jodhpur

Jodhpur as a city has a unique charm among all the cities inn Rajasthan with its immense history and mega forts. Jodhpur is often called the ‘Blue City’ because of the blue walled houses you find throughout the city. The one spot to witness all that is top of the Mehrangarh Fort. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the biggest forts in the whole country, built on top of a hillock 110ft above the city. Jaswant Thada, Sardar Market and the Mandore Gardens are few of the many places you can visit here. Umaid Bhawan Palace is another place you must visit. Once the palace of the royal family, a part of it is now one of the best luxury hotels in the world.

Udaipur

Udaipur, the City of Lakes, is a hub for newlyweds and couples in general. The city, with its innumerable number of lakes and beautiful palaces, is often considered one of the most romantic places in the India. Majority of the city is situated surrounding the biggest lake in the city, Lake Pichola. City Palace of Udaipur has some magnificent piece of architecture in it that is a pleasure to the heart. Pushkar Camel Fair

Pushkar is the one city in Rajasthan that is more popular for its temporary establishments than its palaces and forts. Pushkar and Fairs are synonymous with each other due to the incredible number of fairs and festivals that take place here during the winters. The best among all those fairs is the Pushkar Camel Fair. Camels from across the state of Rajasthan come here with their owners to have new deals and much more. It is a paradise for photography lovers, as the place promises to give you multiple stories for you to capture through the lens. Pushkar is also popular for having the only temple in the country with Lord Brahma as its major deity.

Best time to Visit: November to March. Since it is a desert area, visiting here in summers is not a great idea. Moreover, the fairs too take place in the winters.

Major Attractions: Pushkar Camel Fair, Brahma Temple, Meerabai Temple and the beautiful Pushkar Lake.

Mandawa

Mandawa is a unique city in itself because of the innumerable Havelis it has. Less than 200kms away from Jaipur, the small town has seen various rulers and ministers over its history and hence has so many havelis. With most of them abandoned now, the government has turned most of it into tourist sites. Some of them are heritage hotels while some of them still lie there with no one to take care of. All this makes it an ideal location for someone who has interest in enjoying architecture and exploring abandoned castles.

Best time to Visit: October to March. Avoid the summers, as it can get really hot here.

Major Attractions: Mandawa Fort, Snehi Ram Ladia Haveli, Golden Haveli, Sewaram Saraf Haveli and the other various Havelis.

Things to do: Local sightseeing and exploration of the innumerable Havelis you may find in the streets of the local city.

Bikaner

Bikaner has a rich history of over 500 years and is now the fourth largest city in Rajasthan. Junagarh Fort is one of the best forts in the state and also has a unique distinction of being one of the very few forts built not on top of a hill. Laxmi Niwas Palace is another popular attraction in the city, which was once a palace but now a heritage hotel run by the royal family of Bikaner. Bhandesar Jain Temple is known for its beautiful architecture with mirror works, leaf petal designs, wall paintings and much more. The city has several other temples as well. Visiting National Research Centre on Camels would be a great experience where you get to mingle with Camels.

Best time to Visit: October to March when the weather remains pleasant and cool. Avoid the summers.
