The stunning city of Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II during the year of 1559, Udaipur was also the former capital of Mewar up until 1818, then later it became a princely state of British and when India gained its independence in 1947 this region of Mewar became a part of Rajasthan.

1. Witness the regal charm of Udaipur City Palace

2. Boating at Lake Pichola during Sunset

3. Saheliyon ki Bari

Situated in the heart of Udaipur, Saheliyon ki Bari is a majestic garden located on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake, it boasts numerous stunning fountains and lush green lawns and flowers. Famously known as the Garden of the Maidens, it is one of the few architectural marvels that was created by a Man for a Woman.

Designed with utmost care and perfection, Saheliyon ki Bari was commissioned by the King Sangram Singh for his consort. To create a sense of romance and pleasure the King commissioned it during the 18th century for his wife and the 48 maids who came along as a wedding gift. Saheliyon ki Bari was originally built to provide an instant getaway from the political matters, also to be able to stroll around without any disturbance.

4. Bagore Ki Haveli

Bagore ki Haveli is one of the stunning palaces in Udaipur, standing on the seaside of the Lake Pichola, this opulent haveli was built during the 18th century and over time after being restored several times it has been turned into a museum. Bagore ki Haveli boast over a 100 rooms that are built with insane perfection, mirror works, and intricate carvings. Amar Chand Badwa, who was the prime minister of Mewar Kingdom at that time, commissioned the construction of the Haveli.

Strolling around the Haveli, you will come across the Queen’s Chamber which is supposed to be the most popular room among them. You will see mirror sculptures of peacock and several stunning painting adorning the walls. Witness the rich cultural performance, the Dharohar Dance that takes place in the palace every evening.

5. Jagdish Temple

One of the prime examples of the Hindu Iconography, The Jagdish Temple is dedicated to the the supreme deity and the preserver of the Universe, Lord Vishnu. Formerly known as the Temple of Jagannath Rai, the Jagdish Temple is one of the important monuments in Udaipur and holds a significant amount of history which attracts devotees from around the world

Taking the blessings of the divine is a one of the must things you should do during your Udaipur trip. The temple houses a main shrine of Lord Vishnu, carved out of a single black stone and surrounded the main shrine there are 4 other shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Sun God, Goddess Shakti and Lord Shiva. 6. Monsoon Palace

Situated on the outskirts of Udaipur, this opulent palace is also known as the Sajjangarh Palace. Constructed by Maharana Sajjan Singh during the 19th century, this palace was originally built to view the Monsoon clouds from the hill.

You can visit this Monsoon Palace at any time during the year, the view it offers at the evening is more fascinating, as the entire area gets lit up by the bright lights providing a stunning look and more charm to the palace. You can reach this palace by taking a cab or taxi from the foot of the hill.

7. Boat ride on Fateh Sagar Lake

Nothing beats an adventure activity if done with friends or family. Taking a speed boat ride in the beautiful Fateh Sagar Lake is one of the best things to do in Udaipur. The Speed boat ride takes you through the Fateh Sagar Lake which is home to three small islands. There is also a beautiful botanical garden in the middle of Lake named- Nehru Park. You can reach there by taking a normal ride, there is also a public park situated right off the small island, which also houses stunning water fountains.

8. Sunset at Ambrai Ghat

Ambrai Ghat serves as a major sunset view point in Udaipur, this beautiful ghat is famous for providing magnificent views of the City Palace and Jag Mandir on the backdrop. You can sit here alongside your partner or friends and can have a majestic view of the settling sun.

10. Udaipur Solar Observatory

11. Neemach Mata Temple

Neemach Mata Temple is among the famous temples in Udaipur, perched on top of a hill close to Fateh Sagar Lake, the temple is dedicated to Neemach Mata Devi, a form of Goddess Durga.
