Golden Triangle and stayed in Luxury Hotels

During this year’s vacations we finally planned to visit India which was being postponed from last year. Being born in India and brought up in USA might have kept me at some distance apart from my motherland but India has always resided in my heart. We arrived at the Le Meridian Hotel in New Delhi, which is among the best five star hotels of central Delhi. My wife is a foreigner and she was also excited to see my country. The services of hotel were mind blowing. They welcomed us with their great hospitality. We roamed on the streets of Connaught Place after we had our dinner. The hotel has provided us a driver named Rana. He was an experienced driver and was well aware about how to cover maximum places in short duration. The next day we started our trip and visited to Lotus Temple. This place is perfect for meditation. I finally realized that why the Iranian architect Fariborz Sahba had won so many awards for the design of this temple. Then we visited to Red Fort and Qutub Minar. My wife always wanted to visit Hindu temples. So Rana took us to Iskon and Chattarpur temple. After this we went to Nehru Memorial Museum and came to know a lot about Jawaharlal Nehru’s living style. I also took my family to watch the show ‘Stars and wonders of the universe’ at Nehru Planetarium. That 3-D display of the universe was wonderful.

The next day we went to Agra. I was very eager to see the Taj Mahal. My wife and I loved the Mughal architecture very much. We stayed at the luxurious ITC Mughal at Agra. We loved the interior of our room and the facilities it had in it. The food was also great. Our driver Rana even helped us to buy good things from Agra. We took many selfies at Taj Mahal and took great shots from our camera. After having delicious dinner at ITC we took a good sleep as we have a further two day schedule planned for Jaipur.

We departed for Jaipur early morning and reached there in five hours. We had booked Samode Haveli for our two day stay. This larger than life haveli has maintained the tradition of Rajasthan while providing all modern facilities like pools, fitness centre and wifi connections. We spend some leisure time there. Rana had planned a good trip for us. First we went to Amber Fort and also enjoyed the elephant ride. My wife bought many things from the nearby Johri bazar. The handicrafts of Rajasthan were very beautiful and attractive. We also went to Hawa Mahal and City Palace. Rana our driver was a Rajput and he told us a lot about Rajasthani architecture which is the amalgamation of Hindu and Mughal architecture. He told us that chhatri, jharokha, stepwell, haveli and johad are among the main features of rajasthani architecture. Everything in Rajasthan was extremely beautiful. My wife and I became fan of Indian architecture. It is diversified in nature.

We came back to Delhi to board our flight back to USA. My trip to India or a visit to my roots will always stay in my memory.
