Golden Triangle Tour with Kashmir

We had a fantastic time during our golden triangle trip in India and were blown away by the beauty of the Taj Mahal. Select India’s packages were very well planned and their team offered us 24x7 support whenever we needed them for any help or query.

My recent trip to India was a memorable one! I went there with my office colleagues. I am very thankful to my drivers and guides who made this trip more comfortable and knowledgeable. My first stay was in Ashthan Sarovar in Delhi. The hotel had made sure our stay was calm and we felt contended. The hotel gave us the facility of a driver. Our driver Ram was a very simple man who had expertise in handling tourists. He made us to visit many monuments and museums in just one day. We visited Rashtrapati Bhawan and India Gate. We also went to the famous monuments of Delhi from the Mughal period that were Jama Masjid, Red Fort and Qutub Minar. I tried to capture best possible shots of every place. We were very exhausted at the end of the day, so we took some rest after we had our dinner.

Next morning we reached Jaipur. The luxurious Grand Tulip gave us a warm welcome. We got ready for our day and departed to visit Jal Mahal. The palaces of Rajasthan were breath taking! We were amazed by the work of the architects. The markets of this place were so fascinating and colourful that you would be cheered up to buy everything.

We slept on our whole way to Agra. We chilled for some time in Crystal Sarovar Hotel and then went to see the glorious Taj Mahal. We hired a guide named Manoj who helped us in understanding the history of the Mughals and the importance of the monuments. The dedication of Mughal architects were reflecting in their intricate designs. Hats off to those artists! If we hadn’t found Manoj then we would had definitely lost the opportunity to know about Mughal’s architecture!

Ram drove us to Jammu and Kashmir. Here, we met our driver Shami who was a pro at driving in the hills. Shami took us to Dal Lake where we enjoyed a house boat ride. The guide also told us many things about the lifestyle of the people of Kashmir and also about the difficulties faced by them in extreme weather conditions. After this mesmerising and pleasant ride we headed to Gulmarg and stayed at the Hotel Hilltop. The hotel had such beautiful views of mountains. Kashmir is truly a heaven on this earth. Sipping a hot coffee was the one thing we enjoyed a lot in the chilling weather of Kashmir. We experienced the thrilling Gulmarg Gondola rides via cable cars. We were just so delighted after this ride that I am unable to put the joy into words.

After this our next destination was Pahalgam. We stayed at Hotel Pinespring. The facilities at this hotel were up to the mark. We went to Aru and Betaab Valley. The river flowing around the valleys and snow from the skies were giving opportunities to experience nature to its fullest. The beauty of the Kashmir trip is still present in our minds and we are still in a pleasant sort of hangover after this beautiful trip!

My husband and I went on a Golden Triangle Tour with Kashmir, and it was one of the best vacations of my life. Our tour operator was this company in India called Select India tours, and they prepared the itinerary for us after we explicitly told them that we want to see India through the eyes of the locals! We wanted to stay in places that were not alien to Indians and eat their cuisine, and I really must say that they really hit the mark on that one. I’ve been boasting about to this holiday to all my friends and everyone seems really jealous!

Our holiday began in the capital city of Delhi – crowded, filled with life, and exciting! On arriving, our driver Hari Bhagwan picked us up from the airport and took us to the Ashtan Sarovar hotel in Delhi. Thanks to the jet lag, we were ready to pass out, but obviously did not want to miss seeing any sites! We ended up going to the India Gate, a monument dedicated to soldiers, and marveled at how many people were just lolling around and eating ice cream at that late hour. We even drove to the President’s house, which is called Rashtrapati Bhavan, but obviously did not go inside!

The next day, we were in Jaipur and we stayed at a place called The Golden Tulip. We tried our first taste of Rajasthani cuisine – it was so spicy that my husband gulped down chocolate milk afterwards! Jaipur had a ton of sights to offer, including Jantar Mantar and Amber Fort, and we enjoyed learning about their history. The two days in this pink city were followed by a lovely long drive to Agra in a spacious Toyota Innova. We got to see the Taj Mahal and we even stayed at a 4 star property called Crystal Sarovar. Having these plush hotel rooms to welcome us at the end of a long day was really a great addition. To think that my husband wanted to go back-packing now makes me laugh! We wouldn’t have lasted without these amenities!

The final leg of our trip was in Kashmir, with a lovely night in Srinagar spent on a house boat that swayed gently on the Dal lake. The caretaker, Shiva, helped us go through the menu and we ordered traditional Kashmiri meat balls for dinner – also called Gushtaba! My, oh my, were they delicious!

We then went to Gulmarg – heaven on earth! My husband enjoyed a slow golf session while I went skiing. We stayed at the Hilltop Gulmar, and definitely enjoyed our stay there. The food was great too. Finally, our driver Mahar Ali drove us to Pahalgam, which was a gorgeous place. We stayed at the Pinespring and enjoyed relaxing by the river. With this, our trip was over. We went back to Delhi and took our flight home.

Hello everyone! I recently visited Kashmir, which is in India. What a place!!!! I mean literally the place is so beautiful and peaceful it feels like I can spend an eternity there.
